From Mount Cook return along the length of Lake Pukaki then head Souththrough Twizel and Omarama to the Scenic Lindis Pass. Once over the pass follow the Clutha Valley to it's junction with theKawarau Gorge at Cromwell. Queenstown is reached by following the "gold trail" alongisde the winding Kawarau River. Join us for a morning sightseeing excursion of New Zealand's thermal wonderland, rich in Maori culture and heritage and famous for it's geothermal reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and fascinating landscape. New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute - a guided tour shows you traditional crafts of flax weaving, wood and jade carving, and a Maori pa. Te Puia Thermal Reserve - boiling mud pools, hot springs and exploding geysers, including lively Pohutu geyser which erupts up to 100 feet! Rainbow Springs Nature Park - a guided tour of the freshwater springs. View the rainbow and brown trout from an underwater viewing gallery and see New Zealand’s national icon, the Kiwi. Then it’s over Wilmot Pass, on one of New Zealand’s remotest and prettiest sub-alpine roads, stopping along the way to experience some of Fiordland’s densest rainforest and to view Doubtful Sound glistening far below. On reaching Deep Cove, you will board the Patea Explorer our spacious catamaran, for a three hour cruise that takes in the most dramatic scenery of Doubtful Sound. Our nature guides provide an engaging commentary and point out highlights. Keep a look out for wildlife as bottlenose dolphins frequently swim alongside our vessel, fur seals bask on the rocks around the fiord and rare penguins can at times be observed.
Return to Te Anau on conclusion. Picnic lunch is included today. |

Drive through the magnificent beech forests of the Eglington and Hollyford Valleys, through the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound for a launch excursion on the fiord. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery including the awe- inspiring Mitre Peak with a full commentary on the natural history of the fiord. Picnic lunch included. Upon conclusion of the cruise, return to Queenstown. |

Today is free to enjoy the many leisure pursuits.
From luminescent blooms to subtle pastels, treat yourself to a feast of nature in Queenstown during spring. Colourful flowers and plants in Queenstown Gardens can be admired while playing frisbee golf or dawdling by the lakeside. Clear, glacial-fed rivers swell in spring, making rafting and jetboating escapades an exciting option. Queenstown is the birthplace of commercial jetboating and braided rivers provide fantastic water adventures. |
