Christchurch Sightseeing
This morning you will be collected from your accommodation and taken on a sightseeing tour of Christchruch known as the Garden City. Visit Cathedral Square, Arts and Crafts Centre, Canterbury Museum and the Botanical Gardens. On leaving the city centre, the tour travels around Hagley Park before arriving at the Mona Vale Homestead and gardens. (Includes pick up / drop off). Balance of afternoon at leisure. |

Depart Christchurch

| DAY 01 |
Christchurch Cook - Queenstown
From Chirstchurch, travel South across the Canterbury Plains, through farming communities before climbing up to high plains of the McKenzie Country, pausing at the Church of the Good Shepherd to view Lake Tekapo.Continue to Mt. Cook village nestled under New Zealand's highest mountain. Mt. Cook. The mountain overlooks a network of glaciers that feed Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. There are a number of activities including walks, tramps, and scenic flights that will enable views of Mt Cook and the glaciers (own expense). From Mount Cook return along the length of Lake Pukaki then head South through Twizel and Omarama to the Scenic Lindis Pass. Once over the pass follow the Clutha Valley to it's junction with the Kawarau Gorge at Cromwell. Queenstown is reached by following the "gold trail" alongisde the winding Kawarau River. Queenstown nestles up to the northern shore of Lake Wakatipu from where it commands an expansive view of the peaks that surround the Lake. |
| DAY 02 |
Milford Sound Day Excursion
Drive through the magnificient beech forests of the Eglinton and Hollyford Valleys, through the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound for a launch excursion on the fiorl. Enjoy the breathtakinng scenery including the awe - inspiring Mitre Peak with a full commentary on the natural history of the fiord. Lunch is included. Upon conclusion return to Queenstown. |
| DAY 03 |
Queenstown - Franz Josef Glacier
This morning depart for a full day journey from Queenstown to Franz Josef. During the trip, you will travese Kawarau Gorge, Hawera River and Lake Wanaka. Travel through Haast and continue on to Franz Josef (Lunch own expense) |
| DAY 04 |
Franz Josef - Gremouth - Christchurch
Today travel to Greymouth and board the scenic Tranz Alpine for a rail journey famous for it's spectacular mountain scenery as it traverse the Southern Alps which devide the East and West Coasts of the South Island. Travel across the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch arriving at approximately 6:35pm. Our tour arrangements conclude this evening at the Christchurch Railway Station. |

Today, travel by motorcoach through the Canterbury Plains and on ti Dunedin. The city's attractions include museums, garens and galleries, two great baronial houses and the nearby Otago Peninsula with it's Albatross and Panjuin Colonies. On arrival, you will be taken on a tour of the Otago Peninsula including the renowed Royal Albatross Colony (seasonal) |
| DAY 02 |
Dunedin - Queenstown
Enjoy the spacious elegance of the Taieri Gorge train as it follows the Taieri River from Dunedin to Pukerangi. View stone work and iron latticework viaducts that cannot be seen by road, follow part of the Otago Gold Trail and visit the gold mining town of Naseby. From Pukeranti you will connect with your coach on which you will continue your journey to Queenstown. |
| DAY 03 |
Milford Sound Day Excursion

| ITINERARY |
| DAY 01 |
Christchurch - Mt. Cook
Depart Christchurch and travel across the Canterbury Plains, the largest area of flat land in New Zealand. Climb the foothills of the Southern Alps over the top of Burkes Pass before descending into the Mackenzie Country. Pause at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Twizel and follow the shoreline of Lake Pukaki before entering Mt Cook National Park where a stop is made for lunch (own expense). After lunch continue through Omarama and through the Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown, arriving late afternoon. |
| DAY 02 |
Doubtful Sound Experience - Te Anau
Your Doubtful Sound adventure begins as you cruise the crystal clear waters of Lake Manapouri – a stunning lake renowned for its numerous islands and deserted beaches. Then it's over Wilmot Pass, on one of New Zealand's remotest and prettiest sub-alpine roads, stopping along the way to experience some of Fiordland's densest rainforest and to view Doubtful Sound glistening far below. On reaching Deep Cove, you will board the Patea Explorer our spacious catamaran, for a three hour cruise that takes in the most dramatic scenery of Doubtful Sound. Our nature guides provide an engaging commentary and point out highlights. Keep a look out for wildlife as bottlenose dolphins frequently swim alongside our vessel, fur seals bask on the rocks around the fiord and rare penguins can at times be observed.
Return to Te Anau on conclusion. Picnic lunch is included today. |
| DAY 03 |
Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown
Drive through the magnificent beech forests of the Eglington and Hollyford Valleys, through the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound for a launch excursion on the fiord. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery including the awe- inspiring Mitre Peak with a full commentary on the natural history of the fiord. Picnic lunch included. Upon conclusion of the cruise, return to Queenstown. |

Queenstown
Today is free to enjoy the many leisure pursuits.
From luminescent blooms to subtle pastels, treat yourself to a feast of nature in Queenstown during spring. Colourful flowers and plants in Queenstown Gardens can be admired while playing frisbee golf or dawdling by the lakeside. Clear, glacial-fed rivers swell in spring, making rafting and jetboating escapades an exciting option. Queenstown is the birthplace of commercial jetboating and braided rivers provide fantastic water adventures. |

Queenstown

| DAY 01 |
Auckland - Bay of Islands
Travel north across Auckland's Harbour bridge, along the beautiful Hisbiscus Coast to the Bay of Islands. On arrival in the Bay of Islands visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Considered to be the birth place of New Zealand as a bicultural nation, the Waitangi Treaty Grounds are set in an extensive park-like reserve. Learn about the first Maori canoes to New Zealand, the signing of the treaty of Waitangi and visit Te Whare Wunanga, a fully carved Maori Meeting House which is representative of all Iwi (regional tribes) in New Zealand. |
| DAY 02 |
Bay of Island - Auckland
Board the luxury catamaran at the Paihia maritime Wharf and cruise to Cape Brett. This most popular cruise in the Bay of Islands will whisk you on a comforatble journey out through game fishing waters to the Cape Brett Lighthouse and the famous "Hole in the Rock". On the return journey time is taken to menader through the islands. View sandy beaches, beautiful bays and marine wildlife. Upon return to Paihia your coach will return you to Auckland around 9:15pm. |
| DAY 03 |
Auckland - Waitamo - Rotorua
Travel south over the Bombay Hills, following the Waikato River to Hamilton, then on via Te Awamutu to Waitomo. The Waitomo Caves are considered to be one of the world's great wonders. An unspoiled cave and karst landscape is overed by a vast expanse of farmland with backdeop of bush clad hills and forest. Beneath this tranquil landscape is 50km of cave passages, part of a limeston network sculpted by water into underground arches, vallesy and outcrops. Enjoy lunch before continuing on to the famous race-horse stud of Cambridge before travelling over the Mamaku ranges to Rotorua. Evening enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and concert. |

Rotorua - Auckland
Nau mai, haere mai - Welcome to Rotorua! Join us for a morning sightseeing excursion of New Zealand's thermal wonderland, rich in Maori culture and heritage and famous for it's geothermal reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and fascinating landscape. New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute - a guided tour shows you traditional crafts of flax weaving, wood and jade carving, and a Maori pa. Te Puia Thermal Reserve - boiling mud pools, hot springs and exploding geysers, including lively Pohutu geyser which erupts up to 100 feet! Rainbow Springs Nature Park - a guided tour of the freshwater springs. View the rainbow and brown trout from an underwater viewing gallery and see New Zealand's national icon, the Kiwi. Agrodome Show - a "must see" entertaining stage show starring sheep shearing, live sheep auction, cow milking (you try it!), feeding cute cuddly baby lambs and an outdoor sheep dog trial.
You will travel back to Auckland via express coach at 2.00pm, arriving approximately 6.00pm (no pick up and drop off for this express service). |
